Jim & Carolyn Morton
Jim & Carolyn became interested in alpacas in 1992 when Jim's mother, Neva, suggested they should raise something on their property just southeast of Corvallis that would provide a financial base for their daughter Sami's college education. Starting with two bred females and a male, they found caring for alpacas much easier than raising most traditional farm animals and their herd has grown to nearly 15 with a goal of a sustained herd of a dozen animals. Both being employed at home has provided them with the benefits associated with being near their animals for special events such as the arrival of new babies.
They currently specialize in a herd of solid light fawn to black colored American huacaya alpacas of very good to excellent conformation. Their long-term goals include: maintaining their herd size at just over 10; continually improving the fiber quality of each alpaca, giving the best service possible to our customers backed up with prices and service second to none, and subsidizing their income into their retirement years.
