As alpaca are native to South America, Dennis and I thought it fitting to bestow a farm name from the Spanish language. Querencia refers to a favorite haunt; the stable; and stables have been our favorite places from childhood experiences with ponies through most things barn raised, to our discovery of the delights of raising alpaca. (p) We believe in the future of the alpaca fiber industry and in a scientific approach to breeding based on estimated progeny differences, therefore we have joined the Ideal Alpaca Community. (p) Our foundation herd was selected based on criteria of fine dense fiber, dense bone structure and rugged conformation. Having lived in the 4 Corners Region of New Mexico, fine, vibrant, naturally colored fiber was important to us, so we selected animals from both Peruvian and Chilean lines. Our bloodlines include Caligula, Danko, Elite, Hemingway, Legacy, Royal Fawn, Schwartzkopf and Yupanqui. Bien Venidos-We welcome you to our Querencia, and hope it will become your Querencia as well. Please call for directions. We are located 7 miles north of Coburg, east of I-5.
