Jim Rowell and Leslie Benton
Jim grew up raising livestock and Leslie has always loved animals, so as we beheld our 20 acres of ponderosa pine trees, we knew something was missing. It wasn't long until we discovered alpacas and there was no turning back. So, early in 1999, the notion of ALPACAS IN THE PINES was conceived. In record time, we designed an ideal set-up for alpacas and constructed a barn and pastures with all the amenities. Soon, our first five alpacas joined us, our dogs and cats, and ALPACAS IN THE PINES was born.
ALPACAS IN THE PINES continues to thrive and grow, both in terms of herd size and ranch services. Our colorful herd has most certainly spiced up our landscape as well as our lives. The alpacas, likewise, couldn't be more loved or happier as they frolic among the pines.
We are committed to breeding the finest Huacaya alpacas in a wide variety of colors, all with lovely fleeces, good conformation and friendly dispositions. ALPACAS IN THE PINES is conveniently located near the I-5 corridor just north of Albany in western Oregon's fertile Willamette Valley and visitors are always welcome.
